Ahhhhhh……spring is in the air!
It’s a new season and time to peel off the winter blah’s. As you pack away last season’s chunky knits and other snuggly items, try inserting scented dryer sheets as you seal and store them to keep them smelling fresh.
As you pack your winter items, take a closer look…..examine your wardrobe for articles that need to be mended, cleaned or that you no longer wear. If you haven’t worn the item in a year or more, you probably never will. Consider donating, selling or giving away items that are no longer suitable for your needs.
Don’t stop at washing only your pillow cases! Cases serve as a thin layer of protection between your face and your pillow. Wash and dry the entire pillow to remove bacteria, oil and germs that may be embedded. Hint: Add a spritz of lavender spray to pillows to aid in a comfy nights rest. Vacuum your mattress, spray it with disinfectant and flip it if possible.

Food pantry items shouldn’t be left out of this fun, seasonal cleaning party. Remove all items from your food storage area and be sure to check the stamped dates!! Most food items are date-stamped with an expiration date. It’s best not to consume expired food items so properly discard these items. For safe perishables that you no longer desire, consider donating them to your nearest food pantry. When your pantry shelves are empty, wipe them squeaky clean before restocking them with your favorite items. Hint: Lemon juice, vinegar and water make a budget-friendly cleaner. For stubborn areas, scrub with baking soda and vinegar.
After your pantry is clean and organized, open your fridge and repeat the pantry process above. Add vibrant color in a healthy way by stocking your fridge with fresh fruits and vegetables. Keep a container of refreshing iced tea, lemonade or your favorite summer salads.

Add a little vitamin D by letting the sunshine in. Give your windows a budget friendly cleaning with a cleanser made of 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. Try growing your favorite herbs or seasonal plants and placing them in your newly cleaned window space. Fear not…If you weren’t born with a green thumb, stones in containers make cute decor also.
Lastly, vacuum, mop & wax, wipe down items such as remote controls, light fixtures and door knobs. Dust light bulbs, tchotchkes, décor, perfume bottles and outlets. Clean the oven and open windows to air out your sparkling clean space. Hint: I add baby detergent to the water when wiping down my walls for a fragrant scent.
Now, relax and enjoy!
